The firmer US markets would also lend support to the local bourses while tracking the bullish overnight close on Wall Street.


Malaysia: Bursa Malaysia extended yesterday’s gains to open higher today on continued buying interest while tracking the bullish overnight close on Wall Street, dealers said.
At 9.05 am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,781.02, up 3.89 points, after opening 2.84 points higher at 1,779.97 against Wednesday's close of 1,777.13.
On the broader market, gainers led losers 206 to 76, while 189 counters remained unchanged, with 1,428 untraded and 32 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 168.81 million shares worth RM80.64 million.
The dealers said the key index was in line with gains on Wall Street supported by the overnight comment from European Central Bank (ECB) chief economist Peter Praet that the bank is about to take a key step towards an easy-money exit.
This shows that the ECB remains on track to debate the timetable for ending its asset purchases soon, the dealers added.
Meanwhile, Maybank Investment Bank Bhd said the FBM KLCI could extend its gains as worries over a full-blown trade war dissipate.
"The firmer US markets would also lend support to the local bourses.‘Technically, we expect the FBM KLCI to range between 1,750 and 1,790 today with the downside support at 1,740 and 1,709,” it said in a note today.
The Finance Index perked 59.74 points to 17,866.34, the Industrial Index gained 8.54 points to 3,239.26 while the Plantation Index fell 3.04 points to 7,729.07.
The FBM Emas Index rose 34.37 points to 12,479.37, the FBM Ace Index added 36.75 points to 5,328.32 and the FBM70 was 60.48 points better at 14,896.16.For the heavyweights, Maybank rose nine sen to RM9.68, TNB was four sen higher at RM14.40, CIMB gained five sen to RM6.26 while Public Bank fell eight sen to RM24.92 and Petronas Chemicals was flat at RM8.35.
Among actives, PUC bagged 1.5 sen to 23 sen, Cuscapi gained one sen to 25.5 sen, MyEG increased 3.5 sen to 83.5 sen while Sapura Energy eased half-a-sen to 64.5 sen.

Bursa Malaysia Sector-wise, the Finance Index rose, the Plantation Index was 17.86 points higher but the Industrial Index trimmed.


Malaysia: Bursa Malaysia continued its positive momentum for the second consecutive day to open higher today as demand re-emerged for selected heavyweights amid recovering domestic sentiment, dealers said.
At 9.07am, the benchmark (Bursa Malaysia Price) FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 4.05 points better at 1,744.67 from Thursday's close of 1,740.62.
The index opened 0.69 of-a-point easier at 1,739.93.
On the broader market, losers led gainers 155 to 119, while 172 counters were unchanged, 1,455 untraded and 21 others suspended.
Volume stood at 181.86 million units valued at RM82.48 million.
Public Investment Bank Bhd (PublicInvest) said however external political predicament might put pressure on global equities as renewed concerns over a global trade war outweighed hopes of some sort of resolution to Italy's political problems.
"The US said it would begin levying tariffs (Stock Signals) on imports of steel and aluminium from the European Union (EU), Canada and Mexico from Friday. The EU immediately promised retaliatory tariffs, while Mexico and Canada both said they would take action," the research firm said in a note.
Among heavyweights, Maybank was one sen lower at RM9.65, Public Bank rose 16 sen to RM24.02, TNB and Petronas Chemicals advanced eight sen each to RM14.48 and RM8.13, respectively, and IHH Healthcare was flat at RM6.00.
For actives, Sapura Energy improved one sen to 56 sen, while Trive Property was half-a-sen lower at 2.5 sen, MyEG declined 3.5 sen to 85.5 sen, while EA Holdings and Tiger Synergy were both flat at three sen and eight sen, respectively.
The FBM Emas Index (Financial Adviser Malaysia) added 12.93 points to 12,141.87, the FBMT 100 Index increased 14.63 points to 11,961.4 and the FBM Emas Syariah Index rose 7.71 points to 12,183.68.
The FBM 70 decreased 27.79 points to 14,289.2 and the FBM Ace shed 18.16 points to 4,980.8.
Sector-wise, the Finance Index rose 36.52 points to 17,360.75, the Plantation Index was 17.86 points higher at 7,789.73 but the Industrial Index trimmed 8.92 points to 3,122.36.
The physical price of gold as at 9.30am stood at RM160.77 per gramme, down 52 sen from RM161.29 at 5pm yesterday.

#Bursa #Malaysia opened easier because underperformance of Wall Street with Volume stood at 319.07 million units valued at RM247.61 million.


Malaysia: Bursa Malaysia opened easier today, echoing the overnight underperformance of Wall Street, dealers said.
At 9.15 am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (Bursa Malaysia Price(FBM KLCI) was 31.23 points lower at 1,744.61 from Monday’s close of 1,775.84.
The index opened 16.28 points weaker at 1,759.56.
On the broader market, (Stock Signalsdecliners led gainers 449 to 70, while 179 counters were unchanged, 1,236 untraded and 55 others suspended.
Volume stood at 319.07 million units valued at RM247.61 million (Financial Adviser Malaysia).

Bursa Malaysia rebounded; Among heavyweights: Maybank, Petronas Chemicals, Public Bank, TNB & CIMB. For actives: Sapura Energy, YTL Power, Sliver Ridge, Sumatec & MyEG.


Malaysia: Bursa Malaysia rebounded to open higher on renewed buying interest in selected heavyweights after the recent heavy losses, on positive domestic economic development, dealers said.
At 9.15 am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 16.11 points better at 1,791.77 from Thursday’s close of 1,775.66.
The index opened 17.14 points higher at 1,792.82.
On the broader market, (Bursa Malaysia Pricegainers led losers 203 to 124 while 170 counters were unchanged, 1,410 untraded and 26 others suspended.
Volume stood at 163.35 million units valued at RM131.66 million.
A dealer said the market might gain new momentum after the Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce said yesterday that Chinese investors were keen to re-invest in the country due to stable political landscape and a favourable investment environment.
Its President Tan Yew Sing said the Chinese investors (Stock Signals) were planning to return to Malaysia if the country has a transparent policy of no tolerance for corruption, and aggressive investigations conducted against private and government entities currently would make Malaysia more competitive in the long run.
Among heavyweights, Maybank was six sen weaker at RM10.20, Petronas Chemicals slipped five sen to RM8.29, Public Bank rose 60 sen to RM24.96, TNB advanced 32 sen to RM15.08 and CIMB gained 11 sen to RM6.16.
For actives, Sapura Energy and YTL Power (Financial Adviser Malaysiawent up 1.5 sen each to 70.5 sen and 76.5 sen, respectively, Sliver Ridge improved 2.5 sen to 24.5 sen while Sumatec and MyEG were flat at 4.5 sen and 79.5 sen, respectively.
The FBM Emas Index added 93.48 points to 12,489.44, the FBMT 100 Index increased 99.29 points to 12,297.25 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index perked 63.89 points to 12,531.84.
The FBM rose 80.24 points to 14,735.07 and the FBM Ace advanced 9.72 points to 5,161.79.
Sector-wise, the Finance Index jumped 118.61 points to 17,841.50, the Plantation Index was 21.86 points higher at 7,859.39 but the Industrial Index fell 2.08 points to 3,195.87.

Bursa Malaysia retreated slightly on mild profit. Market Sentiment says gainers led losers 198 to 188, while 215 counters were unchanged, 1,306 untraded and 20 others suspended.


Malaysia: Bursa Malaysia opened higher, but retreated slightly thereafter on mild profit taking in selected heavyweights and in line with its regional peers, as concerns over the US-China trade discussions lingered, dealers said.
At 9.23 am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 1.70 points lower at 1,851.88 from Monday’s close of 1,853.58.
The index opened 1.03 points higher at 1,854.61.
On the broader market, gainers led losers 198 to 188, while 215 counters were unchanged, 1,306 untraded and 20 others suspended.
Volume stood at 257.83 million units valued at RM176.92 million (Bursa Malaysia Price).
Public Investment Bank Bhd said the local bourse may have a positive bias today as gains forglobal equities were highlighted by a jump in the Dow Jones Industrial Average to a two-month high and a record peak for London’s FTSE 100.
“An easing of China-US tensions over the weekend helped to buoy risk appetite with Steven Mnuchin, US Treasury Secretary, stating “we’re putting the trade war on hold”,” it said in a research note today.
Among heavyweights (Stock Signals), Maybank was flat at RM10.88, Public Bank rose two sen to RM25.20, while TNB shed 12 sen to RM15.54, Petronas Chemicals fell five sen to RM8.65 and CIMB declined one sen to RM6.59.
For actives, MyEG slipped 3.5 sen to 94.5 sen, Sapura Energy earned half-a-sen to 78 sen, Hibiscus Petroleum bagged two sen to RM1.03, while Globatec and Tiger Synergy were flat at five sen and 2.5 sen, respectively.
The FBM Emas Index went down 3.21 points to 12,877.09, (Financial Adviser Malaysia) the FBMT 100 Index decreased 4.02 points to 12,674.886 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index dipped 15.78 points to 12,934.74.
The FBM 70 jumped 21.35 points to 15,067.31 and the FBM Ace advanced 11.19 points to 5,390.34.
Sector-wise, the Finance Index was 17.72 points higher at 18,389.51, while the Plantation Index slid 12.38 points to 7,946.22 and the Industrial Index fell 8.27 points to 3,298.89.

Bursa Malaysia had ensured adequate and robust market management measures & also, strong economic fundamentals and investor confidence.


Malaysia: The Malaysian stock market remains resilient and stable, reflecting the country’s strong economic fundamentals and investor confidence, despite anticipated uncertainties from the election outcome, Bursa Malaysia said.
The exchange said the market saw encouraging signs over the three days when it reopened after the nation’s 14th General Elections with strong support from both local and foreign buyers.
The traded value of RM7.3 billion on Monday was the highest ever in record, with daily market velocity at 96 per cent, it added.  
The market was seen to have normalised today, up by 10.06 points from the previous close.
FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (Stock Signals) closed at 1,858.26 points on Wednesday, up 0.54 per cent from its previous close on Tuesday.
In line with its function as the national stock exchange, chief executive officer Datuk Seri Tajuddin Atan said Bursa Malaysia had ensured adequate and robust market management measures were securely in place to maintain a fair and orderly market in the event of excessive volatility.
“The fact that the market was resilient and remained well-supported over the last three days reflects Malaysia’s strong economic fundamentals and investor confidence (Share Trading Tips).
“The additional two-day break allowed the market to make rational investment decisions that were underpinned by stronger corporate earnings growth and positive economic outlook,” he said in a statement.
Tajuddin said imminent developments such as institutional and governance reforms will further enhance Malaysia’s competitiveness, in line with Bursa Malaysia’s (Bursa Malaysia Price) continuous efforts in championing corporate governance among listed companies as key levers of sustainable growth.
“The exchange will continue to step up initiatives to increase the depth, breadth and vibrancy of the Malaysian capital market,” he added.

Bursa Malaysia on knee-jerk reaction local stock market as it created uncertainty. Among heavyweights Maybank lost; Public Bank eased; Tenaga fell; CIMB slumped; Petronas Chemicals went up.


Malaysia: Bursa Malaysia opened sharply lower today on knee-jerk reaction following a surprise win by Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the 14th General Election (GE14).
At 9.05 am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was down 31.72 points at 1,814.79 from Tuesday's close of 1,846.51.
The index opened 32.06 points lower at 1,814.45.
A dealer said the unexpected defeat of the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition at the hands of PH in the just concluded GE14 on Wednesday last week was a negative surprise for the local stock market as it created uncertainty.
“Hence, a sharp correction is likely today,” he said.
He added that the immediate support was spotted at 1,811 and immediate resistance at 1,865.
Among heavyweights, Maybank lost 14 sen to RM10.56, Public Bank eased two sen to RM23.86, Tenaga fell 46 sen to RM15.60 and CIMB slumped 64 sen to RM6.26.
Petronas Chemicals went up one sen to RM8.43.
For actives, Sapura Energy added nine sen to 76 sen, Eden Inc gained 14 sen to 31 sen, Opcom perked 30 sen to 90.5 sen and Berjaya Corporation went up 5.5 sen to 36 sen.
Cuscapi lost 14.5 sen to 21 sen.
The FBM Emas Index fell 319.27 points to 12,566.44, the FBMT 100 Index declined 317.78 points to 12,380.66, the FBM Emas Shariah Index shed 359.04 points to 12,716.32, the FBM Ace slid 138.47 points to 5,073.86 and the FBM 70 lost 391.68 points to 14,911.58.
Sector-wise, the Industrial Index slipped 26.05 points to 3,170.5, the Finance Index was 383.24 points lower at 17,707.35 and the Plantation Index lost 80.75 points to 7,768.97.
On the broader market, losers led gainers 292 to 206, while 140 counters were unchanged, 1,241 untraded and 29 others suspended.
Volume stood at 314.78 million units valued at RM306.7 million.

Bursa Malaysia had one-day gain. Out of this 1.32 billion shares, valued at RM2.60 billion, from 1.06 billion shares, valued at RM1.93 billion


Malaysia: FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) ended in the positive territory on Tuesday with the largest growth in a month as investors increased their bets for a possible major rally once Barisan Nasional returns to power.
The key benchmark index increased 18.31 points or one per cent to end yesterday at 1,846.51, from Monday's close of 1,828.20. The last time Bursa Malaysia had one-day gain above one per cent was on April 5, 2018.
Analysts said investors were speculating on the election result in which a rally before polling day would indicate their confidence that the sitting government would return to power.
Rakuten Trade head of research Kenny Yee said investors bought on Blue Chips weakness which had been sold down over the past month.
"Overall, market was positive possibly due to inflows of foreign funds," he added.
Among FBMKLCI component stocks, Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd made the highest gain of 3.98 per cent yesterday, followed by RHB Bank Bhd with 3.54 per cent gain and Axiata Group Bhd with 3.52 per cent gain.
Market breadth was positive with gainers outpacing losers 677 to 281, with 405 counters unchanged, 498 counters untraded and 15 others suspended.
Volume stood at 2.35 billion units valued at RM2.80 billion.
Main Market volume rose to 1.32 billion shares, valued at RM2.60 billion, from 1.06 billion shares, valued at RM1.93 billion, on Monday.
The market will be closed tomorrow as it has been declared a public holiday for the 14th general elections.

BURSA Malaysia balance of risk remains for it, It keeps policy on track keeps its interest rate unchanged and reaffirmed and also volume stood at 68.81 million units.


Malaysia: Bursa Malaysia opened easier on Thursday in line with the weaker performance on Wall Street as the US Federal Reserve (Fed) keeps its interest rate unchanged and reaffirmed the outlook for more hikes this year.
At 9.05 am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was down 1.36 points at 1,850.67 from Wednesday's close of 1,852.03.
The index opened 3.40 points weaker at 1,848.63.
On the broader market losers led gainers 100 to 71, while 115 counters were unchanged, 1,569 untraded and 15 others suspended.
Volume stood at 68.81 million units valued at RM28.99 million.
OANDA Head of Trading in Asia-Pacific Stephen Innes said the Fed had kept its rate unchanged, a move that was highly anticipated.
“The Fed's latest statement redraft was interpreted as dovish on the surface, but below lurked a confident sounding board, suggesting inflation targets are on track.
“With no follow-up presser, additional Fed speak and the release of the minutes on May 23 will provide more clarity, and given the robust US economic data, the balance of risk remains for it to keep policy on track,” he said in a note today.
Another dealer said despite the unchanged interest rate, Bursa Malaysia and its regional peers remained subdued ahead of anxiously-awaited Sino-U.S. trade talks.
Among the heavyweights, Maybank and Petronas Chemicals both rose four sen to RM10.66 and RM8.45, respectively, Public Bank fell six sen to RM23.94 and Tenaga was two sen lower at RM15.82.
For actives, Sumatec Resources eased half-a-sen to 4.5 sen, Sapura was down one sen to 70 sen, Dnonce Technology rose one sen to 33.5 sen while Borneo Oil was flat 8.5 sen.
The FBM Emas Index declined 19.84 points to 12,909.90, the FBMT 100 Index trimmed 14.89 points to 12,728.16, the FBM Emas Shariah Index decreased 18.44 points to 13,059.48, the FBM Ace fell 5.46 points to 5,254.01 and the FBM 70 lost 37.04 points to 15,342.89.
Sector-wise, the Plantation Index inched down 2.21 points to 7,930.92, the Industrial Index slid 23.77 points to 3,186.11 and the Finance Index was 56.86 points lower at 18,125.45.

Bursa on the broader market, losers led gainers follows current lack of catalysts to boost investors’ appetite weigh down.


Malaysia: Bursa Malaysia opened lower this morning in tracking the weaker performance of regional bourses and amid continued concerns over rising US bond yields.
At 9.05 am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) traded at 1,862.71, down 2.63 points from Tuesday’s 1,865.34.
The index opened 1.86 points easier at 1,863.48.
On the broader market, losers led gainers 218 against 55, while 114 counters were unchanged, 1,525 untraded and 30 others suspended.
Volume stood at 102.29 million units valued at RM38.55 million.
Maybank IB Research said the FBM KLCI fell for the third consecutive day yesterday in plunging 15.02 points to 1,865.34, spooked by rising US yields.
“The weaker overnight performance of US markets, could continue to weigh down domestic sentiment, as well as the current lack of catalysts to boost investors’ appetite.
“Technically, we expect the FBM KLCI to trade between 1,850 and 1,880 today. Downside supports are 1,857 and 1,833,” it added.
Among heavyweights, Maybank fell four sen to RM10.58, CIMB eased one sen to RM7.21, Public Bank bagged two sen to RM24.12, while Tenaga and Petronas Chemicals were flat at RM15.88 and RM8.49 respectively.
For actives, Sapura Energy shed 2.5 sen to 68 sen, Hibiscus fell 3.5 sen to 79 sen, Hibiscus warrant slid two sen to 37.5 sen, while Xinghe and Globaltec eased half-a-sen each to five sen and 4.5 sen respectively.
The FBM Emas Index was 39.86 points lower at 12,934.55, the FBMT 100 Index fell 36.88 points to 12,753.71 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index slipped 49.64 points to 13,082.06.
The FBM 70 dropped 101.13 points to 15,185.11 and the FBM Ace eased 27.48 points for 5,294.98.
Sector-wise, the Industrial Index gained 3.21 points to 3,215.0 and the Plantation Index improved 0.06 of a point to 7,992.02 while the Finance Index slipped 36.03 points to 18,269.01.

Bursa bullish outlook on Bursa Malaysia remains intact has also, Volume stood at 77.21 million reinforced by the positive trending indicators.


Malaysia: Bursa Malaysia opened higher this morning after taking a breather on last Friday on profit-taking.
At 9.06 am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) traded at 1,890, up 2.31 points from last Friday’s 1,887.75.
The index opened 2.71 points higher at 1,890.46.
On the broader market, losers led gainers 102 against 88, while 167 counters were unchanged, 1,557 untraded and 18 others suspended.
Volume stood at 77.21 million units valued at RM26.39 million.
A dealer said the bullish outlook on Bursa Malaysia remains intact after scoring an all-time high of 1,895.18, up 15.86 points on Thursday and despite closing lower on Friday.
“The technical outlook of the FBM KLCI remains with a bullish-bias. The upside-bias outlook is also reinforced by the positive trending of momentum indicators,” he added.
TA Securities said the immediate uptrend support on pullbacks was at 1,874 and looking ahead, a convincing breakout above 1,896 high should aim for 1,921.
Among heavyweights, Maybank fell six sen to RM10.66, Public Bank shed two sen to RM24.18, Tenaga bagged four sen to RM15.96, while Petronas Chemicals and CIMB gained two sen each to RM8.50 and RM7.32 respectively.
For actives, Panpage bagged 1.5 sen to 28 sen, Sapura Energy eased half-a-sen to 75 sen, while Borneo Oil, K-Star warrant and Hubline were flat at eight sen 4.5 sen and 12 sen.
The FBMT 100 Index rose 10.15 points to 12,986.17, the FBM Emas Shariah Index gained 23.35 points to 13,373.42, the FBM Ace grabbed 16.42 points for 5,460.54 and the FBM Emas Index was 6.45 points better at 13,174.99.
The FBM 70 slid 7.35 points to 15,609.68.
Sector-wise, the Industrial Index bagged 9.31 points to 3,294.01 and the Plantation Index improved 19.15 points to 8,013.04.But, the Finance Index declined 30.58 points to 18,457.26.
